Associate Position

Central States Testing, LLC

Some background. Central States Testing (CST), located in Sublette, KS, was started by Dr. Bill Hessman in response to some research he did alongside a major pharmaceutical company looking at developing a vaccine for cattle. Upon this research, Dr. Hessman noticed a need in the cattle industry to rapidly test for the BVD virus in cattle, specifically Persistently Infected cattle.

Since then, CST has developed multiple tests and has aided in research with many pharmaceutical companies and governments around the world. Since we opened our lab, we have tested over 10 million head of cattle, the largest of any privately owned company in the nation.

Still being located just one mile east of Sublette, we take components from all over the world to manufacture diagnostic tests that cattle producers and veterinarians can confidently use to get the most out of their cattle.

Current Tests

QuickTest for BVD-PI

This is the first test that CST licensed with the USDA and was able to retail on a national level. This test is the worlds fastest microwell ELISA test. Components for this test are procured from all over the world including England, Germany, China and Mexico.

CST BVDView

This test, developed in the 2010's, set the standard for BVD-PI testing with unmatched clarity of results. This test is still utilized in our laboratory.

Ruminant Pregnancy Test

Introduced on the market in 2025, this test has allowed livestock producers to accurately test their cattle, sheep and goats. With only two drops of blood, they can get results as fast as 5-20 minutes.

Equine Pregnancy Test

This test is a world's first. Similar to our ruminant pregnancy test, this test allows people to determine pregnancy status of their mares in 5-20 minutes, which has never been done before.

In Developement

BVD Lateral Flow Test

This test will be a dipstick style test where producers only need to drop it into a sample vial and get results in 5-10 minutes. To develop this test, we are working with the government of the United Kingdom and a company in Scotland.
